The Important Role of 5N Alumina in Structural Ceramic Parts

5N aluminum oxide is widely used for its excellent hardness, high brightness, electrical insulation (non conductor), super wear resistance, high corrosion resistance, and high temperature resistance. It can be used as a certain additive to improve sintering performance and promote sintering. What are its effects on structural ceramic parts?

 

When pre firing alumina structural ceramic components, it is usually necessary to add an appropriate amount of additives, such as borate, fluoride, high-purity Al2O3, etc. Additives can reduce the pre firing temperature, promote crystal transformation, and eliminate impurities such as Na2O. Borate has good alkali removal effect, but its high-temperature resistance, insulation performance, and mechanical strength decrease; Fluoride can promote crystal transformation, with large shrinkage and good activity. Due to being an external impurity, impurity ions are introduced; High purity nano alumina (UG-L100G/UG-L100K) reduces sintering temperature, has good whiteness, high purity, and strong impact resistance.

 

In structural ceramic components, there is also a high demand for high-purity Al2O3, and the production effect using the alkoxide method is better. The purity is 4N-5N, the particle size is less than 50nm, and the ratio is shown in Table 10-20.

 

The suitable additive for high-purity porcelain parts is 5N aluminum oxide (UG-L100G/UG-L100K). For example, adding 5-15% 5N alumina (UG-L100G/UG-L100K) can reduce the sintering temperature of Al2O3 ceramics by 50-150 ℃, effectively increasing the toughness, whiteness, and purity of ceramic parts, making them less fragile and greatly saving energy. 5N alumina is not an external impurity and can greatly improve the product quality of structural ceramic parts.

 

5N aluminum oxide has high purity, so its mechanical properties, high-temperature performance, dielectric properties, and chemical corrosion resistance are all very excellent, so it can play an important role in structural ceramic components.
