Pseudo boehmite, also known as SB powder (Al2O3 · nH2O or, AlOOH · H2O n=0.08-0.62), is abbreviated as PB in English. Pseudo spar, also called pseudoboehmite pseudoboehmite, gel like boehmite or boehmite like boehmite, is a kind of transition product with uncertain composition and incomplete crystallization from disorder to order, weak crystal to crystal. Its crystal structure is completely similar to boehmite, but its crystal size is small and its crystallinity is poor. Its typical structure is very thin lamellar crystal with folds. It is a non-toxic, tasteless, odorless white colloidal (wet) or powdery (dry) product, with small particle size, high pore volume, large specific surface area, good gel solubility, high crystal phase purity, thixotropic gel characteristics, extremely soluble in strong acids and alkalis, and dry powder has moisture absorption when exposed to the air.


In modern petrochemical and chemical industries, over 90% of chemical reactions are achieved through catalysts. Catalysts are also widely used in the development of new energy, comprehensive utilization of resources, and environmental pollution control. There are many types and quantities of catalysts, and solid catalysts used in refining, petrochemical, or fine chemical industries all require the use of carriers. The United States, Western Europe, and Japan are several major catalyst producing countries abroad.


Main application forms:

1. Aluminum source used as a binder and molecular sieve synthesis in the petrochemical and refining catalyst industries


Pseudo boehmite is mainly used as a catalytic cracking catalyst and binder. Pseudo boehmite as a binder can not only improve the strength of the catalyst, but also adjust the pore size distribution of the catalyst, improve the thermal and hydrothermal stability of the catalyst, adjust the density of the acidic active center of the catalyst, and improve catalytic activity.


2. Used as a catalyst carrier

Pseudo boehmite is widely used as a catalyst carrier for various reactions in chemical, oil refining, and petrochemical industries. Its typical examples include hydrofining catalyst carriers, reforming catalyst carriers, methanation catalyst carriers, etc. After dehydration, pseudo boehmite becomes γ- Aluminum oxide can also be used as a catalyst.
